Jejudo(제주도) and  Dokdo(독도)

Jejudo is the biggest Island located to the furthest of South, the Island has area of 1833.2㎢ stands the biggest and it’s world 218th biggest in size. It will not be easy to find any island which can be bigger than Jejudo in most countries. Jejudo also has the highest mountain in South Korea called Hanlasan(한라산) 1947m.

The highest mountain on the Korean Peninsula is Mt. Baekdu(Baekdusan백두산), located in North Korea.

Jeju is a volcanic island created by volcanic activity. It was erupted 25,000 years ago, and as a result, about 368 'oreum'(monolithic volcano) are distributed, creating a unique landscape.

It's also known for its beach resorts and volcanic landscape of craters and cavelike lava tubes. Hallasan Mountain, a dormant volcano, features hiking trails, a crater lake at the 1,950m summit and nearby Gwaneumsa Temple. The Geomunoreum Lava Tube System includes 7km-long Manjanggul Cave, created centuries ago when Hallasan was still active  🙂

Hallasan is a volcano on Jeju Island with an elevation of 1,947.06 m and an area of ​​about 1,820 km². It occupies most of the area of ​​Jeju Island. There is a volcanic lake called Baengnokdam (백록담) at the top, and it is said that the name Baengnokdam comes from the meaning of a place where white deer drink water.

Jeju Island has been called Samdado(Sam=3(three), da=many, do=island) in Korean. since ancient times because of the abundance of wind, women, and stones. There is also an expression called Sammudo(Sam=3(three), mu=less, do=island). The name was given because there were no thieves, beggars, or gates.

Jeju's specialties include tangerines, bracken, octopus, cutlassfish, horses, and pigs.Tangerines are especially famous. Since the Joseon Dynasty, it is an area where tangerines have been offered as tribute. And even today, 'The people in Jeju Island all grow tangerines? If you ask, 'Really?', Jeju Islanders say, 'No, that's prejudice. There are many houses that do not grow.’ To the extent of joking, answering, ' But in my house, we grow tangerines 😊🇰🇷
